The Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) offers an extraordinary learning environment in which teaching, research, and community service come together in the best way possible for the preparation of tomorrow's dental professionals. The Dental Case Manager and Field Instructor will provide and supervise students in biopsychosocial case management for our most vulnerable patient populations such as those living with complex medical conditions, cancer survivors, people living with HIV, cognitive and developmental disabilities, veterans and other special care or special needs communities we serve. In addition, they will be responsible for supervising Social Work practicum students who provide integrative biomedical, clinical and behavioral care for our patients.
Advocate for patients by identifying, addressing and assisting where possible in the removing of barriers to oral health care. Foster relationships with all patients and specifically with vulnerable patient populations by facilitating patient, family, community and/or relationship centered care. Advocate and assist in developing a dental environment that is relationship centered and respectful for both patient and dental provider (faculty, staff, and students). Consult with providers in the delivery of care to vulnerable patients, including RW PLWH/A patients, who may in part have physical or mental disabilities, who may need cultural assistance, and/or in need of language interpretation services.
Collaborate, communicate, and/or educate faculty and/or staff where appropriate about the duties and responsibilities of a non-medical dental case manager regarding the reducing or barriers in accessing oral health care for all patients.
Provide task and/or field instruction for Indiana University Social Work students who provide integrative biomedical, clinical and behavioral care for our patients. Supervise students in biopsychosocial case management for patients living with complex medical conditions, cancer survivors, people living with HIV, cognitive and developmental disabilities, veterans and other special care of special needs communities we serve.
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) and LSW or equivalent and licensure eligible (LCSW) with two years of experience working in a hospital or medical clinic, including working with people living with HIV/AIDS.
