Monitors overall requirements for each client as determined by the FAA or the IMS
Initial point of contact for the pilot following discharge from inpatient treatment or upon entry into program or services -- works with physician to provide initial letter with program or services information
Maintains contact with pilot directly or indirectly through Program Assistants and communicates with assigned physicians to apprise them of case activity and direction
Utilizes experience and medical resources to interpret medical records and test results and provides assessment accordingly, as well as teach other administrative team members within their scope of practice
Reviews correspondence received for clients to determine if meets FAA standards and/or program guidelines and summarizes reports for assigned physician
Assists physician with non-HIMS/SSRI diagnoses, rendering opinions regarding adequacy of medical documentation and making recommendations to facilitate case preparation for submission to regulatory authorities
Prepares draft aeromedical summaries with attachments for FAA checklist for initial and renewal submissions and sends to assigned physician for review
Interacts with treating facilities, providers, company HR offices, and disability and insurance carriers to facilitate case management process
Interacts with regulatory agencies to ensure adequacy of submissions and expedite reviews
Provides oversight for Affinity drug and alcohol testing and Soberlink breathalyzer programs
Works with Director, IMS, and program assistants to maintain referral listings (providers and treatment facilities)
Works with Aeromedical team to maintain knowledge base in aeromedical issues
Works with Aeromedical team to coordinate review of clinical NON HIMS medical information
Participates as member of the AA HIMS Steering Committee
Assists with AA All Hands training events as requested by Director
Performs other duties as assigned.
Licensed RN or NP with CARN (certified addiction registered nurse) certification with minimum of 1 year experience in psychiatric/mental health hospital or inpatient treatment facility highly preferred.
Certified Nurse Case Manger with minimum of 1 year experience.
Case Management experience in addiction/mental health highly preferred with general working knowledge of case management practices and ability to quickly learn and apply physical standards, program requirements, and services for respective regulatory authority
Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively facilitate case preparation and ensure timely, quality documentation while maintaining client relationships
Administrative office experience desirable
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include use of Outlook and Microsoft products
Excellent analytical and customer service skills to facilitate the resolution of case management problems
Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative working relationships with other team members and regulatory agencies
Excellent organizational skills as evidenced by proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail
Demonstrates ability to meet administrative requirements, including productivity, time management and quality improvement standards, with a minimum of supervisory intervention
Ability to work remote
Travel may be required on occasion
Ability to demonstrate caring and empathy in a professional and business friendly manner in all internal and external encounters
