The Job Corps Case Manager (JCCM) empowers students through meaningful, intentional student interaction focused on completion of the student’s unique goals. The Case Manager provides consistent and intrusive support, guidance, and interactions to assigned advisees and intentionally connects career exploration and development to academic planning. The JCCM fosters a student-centered success environment through programming and community building activities, and connecting students to NIC, Idaho Job Corps, and community resources to support their success.
This is a grant funded position and is subject to culminate by October 1, 2022. The Idaho Job Corp Program is funded through a grant made to the Idaho Dept. of Labor. North Idaho College is contracted with the Idaho Dept. of Labor to deliver programs and services outlined as grant deliverables for the five Northern counties of Idaho.
This list includes, but is not limited to the following:
Build intentional and supportive relationships with assigned advisees. Caseload will be no more than 25 students at any given time.
Have thorough knowledge of and access to NIC services and enrollment processes as well as Idaho Job Corp services and processes.
Work with Idaho Department of Labor (IDOL) staff to develop and implement activities for an orientation week for Idaho Job Corps students.
Work with students to develop a weekly schedule that meets all Idaho Job Corps criteria, including all health-related appointments.
Meet with every student in their case load at least once per week for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Coaching will include student success strategies, course planning (calculating needs and plotting a course for completion), resource referrals, accommodations, classroom/instructor needs, confirming attendance, etc.
Advise students in making career related decisions using assessment instruments and resources to learn about careers of interest where appropriate.
Assist students in identifying strategies for overcoming obstacles that could be barriers to program completion.
Work with students to apply for federal financial aid and scholarships.
Verify student attendance in all Idaho Job Corps activities at least once per week.
Communicate student attendance to Idaho Job Corps Records Specialists to determine student stipends.
Communicate with IDOL and NIC staff and other partners regarding student needs.
Assist with behavioral, emotional, relational, and life skills needs.
Advocate for student success and completion of program.
Collaborate with IDOL Workforce Consultants on appropriate job placement for students.
Host team meetings focused on building community and supporting student success.
Foster a student-centered success environment for students through programming, instructor and student interaction, and community building activities
Plan and monitor advisees on Academic Alert, Probation, and/or Academic Suspension. Provide first line support for student conduct issues.
Keep abreast of federal and state regulations related to admission, financial aid, and course and degree completion.
Maintain expert-level knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, regulations, rules, statutes and laws and assist students in understanding how they are impacted by them.
Assess student need and provide referrals to program, academic, and community resources.
Model problem-solving strategies and civil discourse in support of student success.
Participate in institutional and department initiatives to foster student success.
Plan, implement, and assess academic success, instructor interaction, career exploration, and community development programs.
Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and/or present academic planning and career development workshops.
Attend and actively participate in Job Corp meetings and trainings and other department-wide planning activities.
Maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related field is required
Required License and/or Certifications: Valid driver’s license is required.

• Strong technical abilities: database systems, presentation software, Microsoft Office suites, or equivalent • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary • Strong public speaking skills and ability to represent the college and Idaho Job Corps in a positive way to diverse populations • Strong event planning/coordination skills • Ability to interpret, follow, and administer academic and administrative policy • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form • Ability to function as an integral and positive member of a team • Ability to travel between various locations throughout the day
