This position is part-time and works approximately 25 - 27 hours per week. This position is time-limited for up to two years with the possibility of grant renewal.
The Reentry Case Manager (RCM) will work individually with currently and formerly incarcerated Prison Education Project (PEP) students to develop and support their personalized reentry plans. The RCM will coordinate with students’ internal case managers and parole officers and, after release, with the community parole officers in developing and supporting reentry plans. The RCM will also collaborate regularly with the Alumni Group Coordinator to provide resources and support to the PEP alumni peer network.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Case Management:
Work individually with currently and formerly incarcerated PEP students to develop and support personalized reentry plans.
Meet monthly with current MECC students interested in discussing reentry opportunities and obligations.
Meet bi-weekly with current MECC students who are within 12 months of release.
Communicate regularly with individual alumni to support reentry plans and identify resources and opportunities.
Assist alumni with access to community resources, educational programs, and social services (including help with forms, applications, and transportation when feasible).
Coordinate regularly with Internal Case Mangers and Parole Officers about PEP students no later than within a year of release about home plans, employment, educational goals, and support services.
Coordinate with the community Parole Officers of PEP alumni as necessary to support the reentry needs of alumni.
Develop and maintain a database of relevant alumni resources, including second-chance landlords, second-chance employers, community reentry programming services and funding sources, and educational and professional development opportunities.
Attend (and support as necessary) weekly Alumni Meetings facilitated by the Alumni Program Coordinator.
Develop relationships with community partners in St. Louis who provide reentry resources and a strong knowledge of available resources and networks.
Attend monthly St. Louis Reentry Coalition meetings; collaborate with community partners to identify, develop, and/or advocate for reentry resources.
Attend professional conferences when possible.
Assist the Reentry and Alumni Coordinator with annual program evaluation.
Maintain thorough confidential records of the reentry plans and progress of each current PEP student and alum.
Participate in weekly organizational meetings with the Reentry Coordinator and Alumni Coordinator to identify emergent and ongoing needs for current MECC students and program alumni.
With support from the WU Office of Advancement and in collaboration with PEP staff, develop and implement a fundraising strategy to cultivate potential funding sources, donors, and sponsorship opportunities.
In collaboration with the Reentry and Alumni Services Coordinator and Reentry Case Manager, advise the two principal investigators and the PEP Director on administering grant funds designated for the PEP Alumni Program.
Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience or a master’s degree and one year of experience.
Master’s degree in social work.
Professional experience with currently or formerly incarcerated individuals is strongly preferred.
The hiring range for this position is $23.07 - $29.42 per hour.
