The Case Manager at IUPUI Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) manages the client and case disposition for the center, which serves undergraduate and graduate/professional students at IUPUI. Tasks include managing establishment of new clients and case assignment, crisis intervention, facilitation of student referrals to campus and community resources, and consultation and support of staff therapist's activities. All CAPS staff support mental health and interpersonal violence prevention efforts, clinical training programs, and campus crisis response. The Case Manager will also support the campus-wide Behavioral Consultation Team and assist the BCT case manager in processing reports, gathering collateral information, and coordinating communication among the case consultants. All staff contribute to the strategic planning of the Department and serve the department, division, and university through consultation and participation on committees.
Conducts individual intake assessments.
Provides direct clinical mental health services to individuals, groups, and couples.
Manages individual caseload so as to be able to incorporate new clients in an ongoing manner.
Maintains accurate, timely clinical notes, following Quality Improvement committee standards.
Adheres to relevant ethical and legal standards of HIPAA, relevant professional bodies, state boards.
Consults with and refers to other professionals when appropriate (e.g. psychiatrists, medical providers, and dietitians).
Utilizes evidence-based clinical interventions and, as appropriate, document in clinical notes.
Serves on emergency response teams.
Participates in active educational outreach programs.
May supervise Master's level mental health students.
Master's degree in a relevant mental health area from an accredited program

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
