The Manager of Behavioral Health Case Management Services is responsible for the supervision of all Case Managers, in the absence of the Director. This position carries a daily patient case load at times. Responsible for the review of medical records for patients who are under treatment for emotional or mental illness to ensure proper utilization of treatment resources; review patient records for proper case documentation, and medical necessity of treatment in relation to federal, state and county regulations; assess continuing treatment plans, advocate for required patient treatment with medical providers; review of patient admission data and clinical documentation to ensure compliance with county and state regulations relating to medical necessity, and case documentation. When appropriate, interview of patients/clients and significant others, in conjunction with existing inpatient and outpatient treatment teams; review justification, length of treatment, and case documentation; assess records for appropriate level of care and treatment, after-care and discharge planning. Essential functions include clinical supervisory duties, fiscal planning and management, personnel management, program development and planning, compliance with internal/external standards, including licensure, accrediting and regulatory agencies, insurance authorization management, denial inventory management, utilization management plan development and oversight, and other duties as assigned.
Integration and coordination of Case Management, Discharge Planning andCare Coordination activities will include coordination of services between The Medical Center of Aurora’s campuses.

LCSW or LPC; Certified Case Manager preferred; Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association at the time of hire, and CPI within 30 days of hire.
Master’s Degree required in Mental Health related field
A minimum of five years clinical experience in an acute care or behavioral health setting.
Must have thorough knowledge of social aspects of mental illness at various stages of development and the life cycle; principles and methods of counseling and the accepted techniques for assessing psycho-social behavior; payor expectations on treatment protocol standards, and Interqual levels of care for behavioral health services.
Knowledge of The Joint Commission & CMS standards as well as federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the functions of the department.
Good awareness of all the legal and ethical issues surrounding the operation of inpatient/ outpatient behavioral healthcare services.
Have the ability to assess information, apply critical thinking, determine best course of action, and convey necessary information to the interdisciplinary team.
Requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be able to prioritize workload and manage potential high stress environment.
Must demonstrate good organizational skills, critical thinking skills, leadership and problem solving skills.
Must be able to use computer applications such as Word and excel. Understand review and interpretation of data for process improvement strategies (preferred).
