The Michigan Opioid Collaborative (MOC) team within the Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Case Manager (working title: Behavioral Health Consultant) to join our team. MOC is an interdisciplinary team supporting healthcare providers and communities to increase access to office-based addiction treatment and improve the quality of care and access for patients with opioid and other substance use disorders throughout Michigan. The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) will collaborate with our diverse team to recruit and engage community providers/prescribers, collaborate with team members and community members to expand and improve access to care. The BHC will be responsible for provider outreach and enrollment for counties in SE Michigan including cold calls, office visits, attending community coalition meetings (virtual or in-person) and presentations for providers who are waivered or who are willing to become waivered to provide Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) such as buprenorphine and naltrexone. This position will also provide Technical Assistance and support with the assistance of the project team to help providers begin providing MAT at their clinic. The BHC will also be responsible for timely data entry in provider database and will identify and maintain a community resource database and will provide referral information to providers for patients in need of resources such as housing, food, or other assistance. This position will also be available to connect providers to the MOC addiction specialists for patient consultations as needed during business hours. Responsible for completing other tasks as assigned within project plan.
Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a similar discipline, with evidence of clinical experience and knowledge of substance abuse treatment including Medication for Addiction Treatment. Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, attention to detail, ability to work independently but also within a team, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines are all a must. Residing in (or in close proximity to) SE Michigan for easier travel to community meetings, clinics, and trainings within the area. This position covers several counties in SE Michigan (Wayne, Macomb, Oakland) and travel around the area is needed.
3-5 years’ experience in substance abuse treatment including experience with MAT.
