The Product Manager is responsible for translating top line business strategy into product strategy to meet corporate sales, margin, and financial goals. They review recommended product additions/enhancements to determine an overall value proposition regarding fit, functionality, technical complexity, and viability with existing assigned product portfolio. They integrate channel and industry intelligence into the product development process to create a product portfolio to fulfill these identified needs. Additionally, they are responsible for creating a continuously evolving 5-year product roadmap, which incorporates data from lifecycle evaluations they have completed on existing product lines they oversee.

Maintain and deliver portfolio and product roadmap updates to stakeholders on a regularly scheduled basis
Meet pre-determined deadlines to support product portfolio reviews and new product development teams
Successfully identify and lead new product initiatives based on market needs and growth opportunities
Monitor programs and product line profitability to targets

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitors sales and margin performance of new and existing products.
Determines product pricing by utilizing market data, production and sales costs, anticipated volumes and any special sales or discount programs. Recommends price adjustments when needed.
Participates in long range division planning and goals.
Contributes to the development of the strategic plans which includes updates to the 5-year product roadmaps.
Oversees the product development processes from inception to post launch, such as coordinating and managing the beta test process, authoring product development project documents (competitive assessment, market definition and forecast, and product definition), etc.
Supports Channel Managers and other sales personnel with related product development and technical document creation and participates in unit and revenue forecasts. Ensures all related regional, state, and national codes are satisfied.
Researches, monitors, and evaluates competitive information and assists in maintaining competitor tracking and information system. Develops intimate familiarity with product-focused market size, trends, needs, pricing, and opportunities for assigned products. Must be able to perform market analysis and prepare strategic product/market recommendations.
Provides product and application expertise to support sales activities. Delivers entrepreneurial, innovative product solutions to channel and industry management for relevance and overall fit.
Provides insight on key differentiators and messages to support the creation of sales and related activities such as advertising/public relations to achieve marketing objectives. Participates in national and regional exhibitions as required.
Establishes and supports top level customer and rep training, including updates for new products and modifications to existing products. Participates in voice of customer (VOC) interviews.
Establishes and coordinates internal top-level training for technical services, account management and sales.
Reviews all new product development projects with production to assure complete understanding of production related activities
Participates in monthly and annual unit and dollar forecasts for responsible product lines.
Participate in Sales and Operations (SOP) review meetings.
Supports the evaluation of existing and potential external vendors and identifies and manages new & existing product partnerships
Evaluates warranty data and coordinates action plans for continuous product quality improvements. Participates in high level field troubleshooting analysis as required. Initiates and leads major improvements to existing products.
Manages personal budget, including travel, education, and organization memberships.
Performs other related duties as required or directed
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience with progressive responsibility for sales, product management, product manufacturing, systems application, or business development preferably in the HVAC or plumbing industry
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
Self-directed, good communication skills
Travel as needed up to 20% of the time to trade shows, conferences, customers, and sales reps, and product related job site visits, etc.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience with Epicor ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), PowerBI, PDTrak and JIRA
