General Summary:

Job Description:
Roxbury Community College is looking to hire a second STEM Coordinator and Case Manager.
The two STEM Coordinator and Case Managers work together on activities and programs in the STEM departments as well as advises students on STEM programing, academics, and course offerings; They assists with new STEM initiatives; works on STEM grants; performs college outreach activities for current and potential STEM students. They report to the Dean of STEM, but work with the STEM department faculty, staff, and laboratory personnel. May also provide direction to work-study students.
Provide information and advice on STEM programs and classes; interviews students to assess needs, interests and requirements; explains the types of courses of study available, ranging from basic skills development to academic programs, and assists students in selecting classes to meet their goals.
Maintains a cohort of STEM students, working with them toward to goal of graduation; develops graduation plan and updates plan with student each semester till they graduate.
Responds to student questions on student services and college offerings. Must maintain fundamental understanding of college procedures and requirements; admissions, deadlines, registration procedures, financial aid processes, transfer options and articulation agreements, etc ? .
Refers students to appropriate college services through direct hand off to a representative. Services include but are not limited to career planning, tutoring, financial aid, business office, accessibility services, student life, honors society, IT, and transfer.
Seeks out and provides services to students in a STEM specific major, including case management and intrusive advising.
Works on new STEM initiatives.
Assist with writing and working on STEM grants.
Maintains a list of participants in STEM activities and events. Create Survey's and update information needed for future Grant submission.
Plan and Coordinate STEM activities, and Recruit students for opportunities, including but not limited to, workshops, speaker talks, debates series, internships, and summer programs.
Works with career services for student support.
Performs a variety of administrative support services; retrieves and maintains data; compiles and prepares statistical reports.
Attends monthly SSA (STEM Starter Academy) grant meetings and other related events wherever appropriate.
Prepares encumbrances to generate Purchase Orders, and submits Authorization to pay forms through the approval of Budget Head or Director.
Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Good communication/interpersonal skills
Proficient using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate, but when needed work independently.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Good time management and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
Preferred:
A bachelor's degree in a STEM field
A Master's degree from an institutionally accredited college or university.
Experience as an Academic Counselor at a community college
