The Nurse Case Manager is charged with identifying and navigating barriers to recovery and return to work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Acting as an advocate for injured workers, the Nurse Case Manager will perform outreach to Providers, Employers, and Injured Workers to align parties on treatment and return-to-work plans, and to ensure that timely medical services are delivered. Fluency in Spanish and English.
Medical and Disability Case Management
Manage case files to develop strategic, medical and disability management plans to maximize recovery and return to work.
Conduct reviews of in-patient and out-patient medical services and make treatment recommendations based on professional standards and protocols.
Effectively communicate with employers, employees and medical providers with the goal of facilitating a safe and sustainable return to employment for the injured worker.
Quality Consultation
Uses independent judgment to resolve complex problems, partners with stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Act as a resource for providing medical direction, treatment options assistance to medical professionals, fostering ethical and compliant decision making. Educate injured workers on treatment plans and resources with the goal of re-entering the workforce.
Compliance
Comply with all Managed Care Quality Guidelines and applicable statutes and regulations; Assure timely compliance with all medical and disability treatment plans to facilitate optimal outcomes.
Communication and Responsiveness
Develop trusting relationships with injured workers, employers and providers through proactive communication and collaboration to achieve positive results;
Be responsive to injured workers, employers and provider inquiries; follow-up to ensure questions have been answered; anticipate potential future needs of the customer.
Financial Management
Maximize cost containment in the overall costs of the claims.
Recognize urgency of deadlines and timely and accurate decision making regarding viable treatments.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum RI RN license with Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree and two years related nursing experience commensurate with role is preferred
Current Rhode Island RN license; additional MA and CT RN license preferred
At least one of the following designations (or similar national certification) or willingness to obtain: Certified Case Manager, Certified Disability Management Specialist, Certified Occupational Health Nurse
Understanding of orthopedic injuries related to the management of work related medical claims
Technical savvy and working knowledge of business applications software including Microsoft Office suite of applications
